What is in a name?

When I was choosing a name for my photography business, I knew one thing for sure: I didn’t want it to be my name. I wanted something that felt like me—something with personality, contrast, and meaning.

I’ve always loved oxymorons. They’re a little unexpected, a little poetic, and somehow perfectly fitting. That’s kind of how I see myself. I can be soft —graceful when I need to be—but I also have a tough side. I’ll fight for what I love. I’ll protect my people. I can be a little spicy, if you will.

That’s where Lace Cactus came from: a name that feels both delicate and strong, just like the people I love photographing.

The “lace” also holds a special place in my heart—we got married at Chantilly Plantation, and the vintage lace details from that day still inspire me. It’s a subtle nod to one of the most meaningful chapters of my life.

So no, it’s not just a cute name. It’s a little piece of my story—rooted in love, grit, and the kind of beauty that doesn’t beg for attention but still stands out.
