How I Accidentally Became a Photographer ✨📸

If you had told me a few years ago I’d be photographing weddings, I probably would’ve laughed…and then kindly reminded you I swore I’d never do that.

But let me back up.

It all started with a camera — one I bought under the totally practical excuse of helping a friend at an event. Truth be told, I’d been eyeing one for a while. I’ve always loved the idea of capturing moments, but life has a way of making you hesitate — until the perfect excuse falls into your lap.

The first time I pulled that camera out (outside of the event), I took pictures of dogs. Yep, dogs. And in that moment, I was certain photographing people wasn’t for me. Dogs don’t complain about angles, they don’t blink at the wrong time, and they always look adorable.

Fast forward a bit, and a coworker asked if I’d take prom pictures for her sister. I agreed, thinking it would be a one and done situation.

Spoiler alert: It wasn’t.

I kinda loved it. The excitement, the creativity, the fact that I got to help someone feel their absolute best in front of my lens — it sparked something I didn’t see coming.

From there, it snowballed.

What started with “I’ll never photograph people,” turned into “okay, maybe portraits aren’t so bad.”

And what started with “Weddings? Nope. Not for me.” has now turned into TWO weddings booked for 2025… and I couldn’t be more excited.

So here we are. Me — the person who never planned to do this — running a full-blown photography business, meeting the sweetest people, capturing real, beautiful moments, and loving every second of it.

Funny how life works, huh?
